Roadrunner transportation systems company Active On-Demand worked closely with the Ford Motor Company to provide logistics support for the transportation of essential tools.
The shipment of tools were used to enable Ford to resume production at one of their facilities which had been damaged in a recent fire.
Active On-Demand orchestrated the project in a speedy manner arranging air and ground transportation along with completion of all the necessary import and export documentation for the shipment of tools that were needed to manufacture components for their Ford F-150.
The essential shipment, a die weighing over 87,000 lbs. would be used to cut and shape material using a press, and was transported to Nottingham in the United Kingdom from Ohio, USA.

Standard process time for such a large shipment would normally take around ten days, however, due to the around the clock diligence shown by Active On-Demand, the process was completed much more quickly.
A representative from Active On-Demand accompanied the die throughout the transportation as part of their White Glove Service. The cargo was shipped to the United Kingdom on one of the world’s largest freighter aircraft the Antonov Airlines AN-124-100.

Our AN-124-100 was ideal for the transport of the 87,000-pound die, and the 30-hour flight allowed Ford Motor Company to swiftly resume production.”
